tl;dr Update your Backdrop CMS sites with no fuss on the command line with Drush.
To update your Backdrop CMS site involves 10 steps including backing up your DB, files, and code (config too). Then getting the new code, backing up your old code, moving the new code into place and testing. The full list of steps for upgrading can be found on BackdropCMS.org. Phew I broke a sweat just typing it out!
Updates via Drush and CLI
Fortunately drush knows about these steps and can automate them for you. This allows us to update and test quickly and prevents human error in these repeatable steps that machines are good at. To update via drush:
drush up core
Drush will prompt you letting you know what is about to happen and ask for confirmation and run the necessary DB updates.
Now visit your site and click around and test it out. Make sure everything looks in order, then deploy to staging or production. That's it!
In general drush is your friend and can speed up and make your dev life easier.
